More sturm & drang in the pipe at $Job. Latest rumor, from a semireliable source (SN) says that the second tier support people (one of which I am) are going to be transferred from manager PD (who I get along with) to manager SR (who I think is a slimy, unethical S.O.B.) SN was concerned, of course, because this affects him too.
SR screwed over his previous first tier guy, TR, so bad that he finally took the plunge and moved out of the valley. (TR said he'd missed too many school plays and little league games.) SN left TR up in Seattle for *three weeks straight*, even though he'd told him that he'd have a break and come home.
SR also apparently is willing to lie to the customers. He did not tell a Seattle $Customer that we would be restarting his $software system every day at 4 am, and covered tracks when someone else (a VP) mentioned it. The guy has no ethics.
SR also knows nothing about Linux, and is unwilling to learn. He's even proud of his stupidity. The only thing he's good at is sweet talking and schmoozing the customers. I call him Mr. Schmooze - he makes the marketing and sales people seem like ordinary people in comparison.
I do not want to work for this sleazeball. Neither does SN. If I end up working for Mr Schmooze, I will end up fired within a month - for telling this guy where to stuff it.
It's apparently a big secret, too. People don't want me and SN to know until it's too late, apparently. Maybe they're afraid we'll leave or something....
On the bright side, I have both days of weekend this week.
Note to Self: Update and circulate resume in earnest.
