So now, at $job, when they deploy our software to yet another group of machines, the whiners want me to "smoke test" the software to assure them that the whole mess works. I do this for original builds on the development cluster - that's fine.
But I don't like having to do three such tests in a day, especially when they involve a great deal of acrobatics while trying to use three Windoze XP boxes, with headsets and meese on the right, ALL AT ONCE! It is worse - the chairs they have in the area for testing are, at best broken, and I can't take the time to adjust them to me.
After two, (one with three sub-clusters), my back aches, and I have a headache. Yet I'm the only person around who can be bothered to do a decent job, or even be arsed to do it at all.
No, I don't want to be "indispensable", thank you. Valuable, yes; indispensable, no.
Now getting out the ibuprofen...
